DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Corrections Credit Union is a financial cooperative dedicated
to providing the best possible services and benefits for the membership in a financially
secure and stable environment.
Since Department of Corrections Credit Union was established in 1957, it
has been our mission to provide members with the financial services, products
and knowledge necessary to meet their financial goals. The Board of Directors
and Management strive to provide an inexpensive source of credit in an ever
changing economic environment and help to educate our members to make sound
financial decisions.
Management prides itself in its employees and personal service provided to
each member individually. The Board of Directors strategically planned ways
to make this vision a reality by constructing branches at eight of their prison
sights: LSP (Angola), EHCC (St. Gabriel), DCI (Jackson), PCC (Dequincy), AVC
(Cottonport), DWCC (Homer), JLDCC (Pineville) and RCC (Angie).
The staff at these branches are well trained with strong financial
backgrounds to better service our membership.
The Main Office, located at Department of Corrections Headquarters' compound,
has expanded and is in the ongoing process of renovations to provide privacy
to the membership to conduct their business. The renovations will feature a
newly designed lobby, teller area and member service offices.
Department of Corrections Credit Union has come a long way in the last several
years to become a full service financial institution. In addition to the traditional
savings and loans, the credit union now provides Share Drafts(checking), ATM/Debit
cards, Visa Credit Cards, Electronic Deposit/Payments, IRA Accounts and Loan
Specials.
These products and services were designed to be affordable to all members while
maintaining competitive dividends on Savings, Certificates of Deposit and Individual
Retirement Accounts.
During the 2005 disaster recovery efforts , DOCCU supplied cash to hard
hit hurricane areas such as RCC (Angie), where there were no other financial
institutions
available for service. At PCC (Dequincy) , the branch was open for business
the next day through cash deliveries and generators, providing continued service
during trying times for the prison's employees. The entire staff of DOCCU extended
their time and energy to help our members in need. It is our goal to go above
and beyond the normal functions of a Credit Union to provide uninterrupted
service to our membership.
The 50th Anniversary of DOCCU was held on January 31, 2007 with a successful
celebration at LCIW. Chairman Warden Burl Cain declared, on behalf of the Board
of Directors, a loan interest rebate program to recognize its borrowers. Interest
rebate checks totaling $300,000 , a return of approximately 8.0% of interest
paid on loans in 2006, were issued to members as a token of our appreciation
for their patronage.
